Question on new fuel shut off valve that leaks

Folks I recently purchased Fuel Shut Off Valve Part Number 311292WOR along with a new tank for my 64 Ford 2000 tractor. I installed it with the "O" ring but it is leaking. Am I supposed to use some type of sealant (such as Gasolia) as well or do I have a defective part?

Leaks where it seals to the tank or leaks through the valve out
of the fuel line? If it leaks at the tank I would take it back off
and make sure I had all the surfaces clean and that the O-ring
was seated correctly in the groove. No sealant should be needed.

I have not had good luck with the new ones actually shutting
fuel off going through the fuel line though. Junk parts. :(

You must use the correct O-ring, the O-ring must be properly positioned and you must not over tighten the bolts.

I worked on a 600 sometime back the guy had installed a new elcheapo valve but it leaked... It had the wrong o-ring tween the valve and tank , can they at least get that O-ring right...

I got the correct o-ring out of a set like this, this set will cover most o-rings used on your ford tractor. If you were to buy all those o-rings in the set from CNH it would cost you $1910.00.

Not in the set that you will need is -117 and one more # I will have to chiefer out my bag is marked 110 but its a little thicker than a 110.
