getting a 4000 gas (1963 I think) running after sitting 4 years. Pulled the carb and cleaned it but after reass'y I can't get any fuel to flow into the float bowl. Fuel flows readily into the glass bowl. All internal passages in the carb are clear (as far as I know).

Need advice and maybe references to on line resources.

Thx in advance for help

Did you set the float as per specs?? Could be a stuck float needle in the saet. or depending on what carb it has a clogged fuel inlet in the carb or if it is a M/S with the elbow screen could be clogged

carb was completly dissasembled and cleaned. needle valve is not stuck and screen on the casting for the glass bowl and all the associated passages are clean.

Well you have to have a clog some place if the gas does not get to the carb. So if you pull the carb drain plug do you have a good flow of gas out of it that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes?? If no then the float is sticking or the needle is sticking or the fuel line it self is clogged up. It does help us help you if you say what carb it has

So if you have gas to the sediment bowl that is on the carb banjo bolt but if you do not have gas out of the carb drain plug then your problem has to be the float needle or the banjo bolt is clogged up

You have connected the sediment bowl to the carburetor with the correct bolt???

You have blockage between the sediment bowl and carb bowl. Could include an improperly set float. Nitrile float valves can become stuck in the seat during assembly. Give the carb a good rap and see if it frees up. Have had this happen and after an initial persuasion it works fine.

Have to echo other comments if no gas comes out of the drain hole. Either needle valve is stuck, float misadjusted or a clog between sediment bowl and carb.

Good point, Rick. I've seen the Viton/Nitrile needles stick in the seat. StaBil seems to soften the compound making such sticking more common.

I put a brand new needle and seat in a carb I was rebuilding
today. Viton tipped needle stuck every time I turned it upside
down to check the float level. Turn it over to check float drop,
needle was stuck again. I replaced it and threw that one away.

I have heard that with the original banjo bolt the sediment
bowl had to be put on with the line toward the block to work.
That would have been the original setup anyway.
I don't know if that is true. Mine has an aftermarket bolt and
it will work whether the line faces inward or outward.
