Seat Belt Attachment

Ford 2000; 3 cyl. gas; 4/1 trans...I'm about to install a ROPS on my tractor and have purchased a lever type seatbelt to also install. Anyone have suggestion of the best place to attach the seat belt ends? Onto the seat mounting bolts, transmission bolts, elsewhere? Seatbelts are standard length so do you think I will need an extender? Belt has to go over my oversized belly and am thinking I will need extensions each side to get the buckle up to where I can clip it closed. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

My seat is on a big U-shaped spring so no sides to bolt to. Just a couple bolts holding the spring/seat to the top cover of the rear end. Thanks.

You could look at some type of bracket clamped to the spring under the seat to attach the belts to.
Tractor seats move up and down like big truck seats, if the belts don't move with the seat then as the seat bounces down when you hit a bump the belts will get loose, if the seat over extends when it bounces back up the belts will get tight and that can be painful.

Since you are getting a rops n seatbelt, kick in another 100$ and get a seat at a farm store, loose the u spring, etc. Seat will have provisions for mounting seatbelt, plus you have the choice of back and lumbar rests and arm rests .

My 3400 came with a ROPS and lever type seat belt. The belts are attached to angle iron pieces that are attached with the trumpets bolts.

Destroked made a good point regarding attachment points for the seat belt. Looks like it would be much better to bolt the ends of the belts to the underside of the seat rather than the mounting bolts for the spring. That way the seat belt would travel with the seat. Getting a fresh seat would be nice, particularly one with arms to help keep my butt from sliding back and forth. Maybe I make it a treat for my birthday.

Speaking of sliding...last spring I harrowed a friend's garden using his Jubilee. I moved about in the seat so much my wallet was extruded from my hip pocket and dropped off into the dirt. Just pure luck that I spotted it before harrowing it under. Has this happened to others?

As others said seat belts mount to the
seat in a big truck where the seat
moves, yet are tethered to the floor as
well since seats are not meant to take
seatbelt forces.
