Ford 4000 Questions

The tractor is a '69 Ford 4000. It's a 3 cyl diesel, 8 speed manual with a loader. It's also been retrofitted to a class I 3-point hitch. I've changed the oil & filter, flushed the radiator and I want to change the transmission oil and the rear axle fluid.

What oil do I use for:
Transmission
Rear axle / hydraulics (Universal Tractor Trans/Hyd fluid?)
Power steering

Are there any filters to change for the rear axle?

Should I change the fuel filter? It's a single stage.

The engine oil dipstick tube is loose. I'm assuming it's a press fit. Any ideas where I can get a new one or how to fix it?

Electrical question:
I just replaced the wiring harness and added an alternator with a tach drive. The battery goes flat overnight. Any thoughts on why it's draining? I'm pulling the neg battery terminal after use and it's a PITA with the loader arms in the way.

UTF is find for the tranny, and rear axle / hyds, as well as power steering.

yes, there is a ps filter, and there is a filter for the hyds.. but if no problems.. I'd overlook the hyds filter.. but do change the fuel filter.

you can stake in the oil dipstick tube with a pin puncture wound punch.

on the electrical issue, charge bat, hook it up with a test lamp inline with the hot cable to clamp ( use gator clips to put the test lamp inline. )

the lamp will light up if you have a draw.

now, start at the alternator and disconnect 1 wire at a time till the lamp goes out.

last line you pull that kills it is the short.
