Ford 8000 PTO shaft replacement

I just bought a Ford 8000 from an online auction. The unit has the usual old tractor problems but it also has a bent PTO shaft and pours fluid out. Can someone tell what is involved in changing the shaft. Can it be done from rear of tractor or is it an internal deal. The seller will give me my money back if I want. Please advise.

Shaft has a snap ring that you can see that has to be released to get the shaft out. It has ruined the oil seal if the shaft is bent. Very straight forward job to remove and replace the shaft.

Easiest tractor there is to do that on.
It's made to slide out with just a snap
ring that you grab with regular pliers,
it's made easy so you can swap to the
1000 rpm shaft when needed. Enjoy your
new toy, I owned one for a decade and
loved it. Just be sure and change the
oil in the injection pump at every oil
change, many people forget to and it
ruins the pump eventually

Thank you very much. I guess I'll keep it

The oil leaking from the PTO looks off white like it has water in it
I want to change it but don't have a book yet. Do you know
What oil I should use?

Just grab the two tangs sticking out on the snap ring around the shaft with a pair of pliers. Compress the ring and hold it while you pull the shaft out.
