The original subject was "Help Installing new diesel injector pump on 69 Ford 4000".

I just read your posts. Hope you get this and can offer help. I have a 4000 3 cyl diesel with a CAV pump. The bell housing casting is 4GOIC C7018. I think I was told that meant a 1974, but maybe 64. The pump has been leaking for some time, primarily at the pump from the line to the NO 2 cyl. We replaced the line yesterday, with a part from Yesterday's Tractor, and the leak from the pump to the line is even worse. Is there an internal replacable washer or something in the pump port which should seal the line? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

It appears to be at the nut attaching the line to the pump. The more
we tightened the more it leaked.
Thanks for response. Any ideas?

Leaks at the banjo bolt area can be the sealing washer on each side. If the leak is at the nut area the banjo threaded end may be cracked, and the tapered line end will spread it open when more tension is applied. If you can trade that fitting with another, and see if the leak moves to another line. If the leak moves it's the fitting, if not I'd suspect the line.

Although I have heard the term "banjo housing" I don't know what to look for. Is there a banjo housing in the pressure side of a CAV pump where the injector line attaches? Maybe I'm over my head...Sorry to be so uninformed. Thanks for your help!

My 71 3000 has the exact same leak, was getting ready to order a new injector line but can't tell for sure if it's the line or the fitting bolted to the pump. Can new washers be bought and if so from where?

The banjo is the fitting at the pump that the injector line connects to and that the bolt goes through. If you remove it from the pump and remove the line from it it looks sort of like a banjo. Here's a link to the parts drawing for the fuel system for that tractor:

The banjo fitting (#52 in the drawing), banjo bolt(#54), washers(#53) and injector line(#49) are all available from any New Holland dealer. Here's links to the various parts on partspring.com:

[u:66d9472d6a] Banjo Connector (Pkg. of 2) - $52.00[/u:66d9472d6a]

[u:66d9472d6a] Banjo Bolt - $41.00[/u:66d9472d6a]

[u:66d9472d6a] Washers (pkg. of 5) - $3.80[/u:66d9472d6a]

[u:66d9472d6a] #2 injector line - $37.50[/u:66d9472d6a]

If you want to do all 3 injector lines (If it was me I would do all 3 at the same time) here's the links for the number 1 and number 3 injector lines:

#1 injector line - $32.00

Looks like partspring is out of stock on the number 3 line, but Amazon has that one:

#3 injector line - $34.49

This site has tube sets for a better price.

Thanks a lot for the help! I may not have it solved yet, but at least I understand the problem a lot better. We are a hundred miles from an ag dealer, but have a local tech who may have at least the washers. Everything is a far piece in WY
