Hello
What is the correct silver/gray color for the Power Adjust outer rims? 1973 2000 to be specific..
Thank You

Just silver. The same as pick-up truck bumpers used to be painted. Most of the time they called it argent, which is french for silver.

I believe that the OEM rims were zinc galvanized.

I've found Rustoleum Hammered Metal Silver to be a reasonable approximation of the OEM finish.

Dean and showcrop..thank you. My local TSC has the Farmall silver so that is what I will be using.

I can't tell you for sure what the color was in '73.
I thought they matched the centers then but I'm not sure.

Anyway, here is a picture of an 8N hat rim painted with
Rustoleum Hammered Silver. It looks very nice on these rims.
These were hand painted with a 1 inch, 39 cent chip brush.

The rattle cans of the same paint are a waste of money.

It can be thinned with Xylol and air painted which comes out well.
Not quite as "hammered" as hand painted but still nice.
It has to be applied evenly to get the hammering uniform.

Air spraying is the only way I paint the power adjust rims.
Can't get in all the crevices of PA rims with a brush.
When I get my rims back from the tire shop tomorrow I can
take a picture of the PA rims I HVLP painted last weekend.

Yesterday I needed to do some rearranging in the shop and shed daylight on a pair of PA rims, tires and centers. I stopped and took note of the appearance of the paint, which I believe is original on the inner side. Here and there are some areas of nice condition paint in between rusted areas. I noted that it looked just like the paint that truck bumpers used to be painted.

Here are the pics I promised. Air painted hammered silver.

And if "really close" counts on your current project, I forgot to
paint the stopper when I painted the rim. I painted it with the
Rustoleum wheel paint pictured. It is very close in color.
That stuff is dry to handle or re-coat in just a few minutes.

"If I were gonna take the time to prep them and do it right the paint applied would not come form a rattle can."

You got that right!
I only painted the bolt-on stop with a rattle can.
When I paint the other rim I'll take this stop off and repaint it.
I'm playing a tire/rim swap game so I can still use the tractor while painting.
Someday I'll get around to doing the rest of the tractor.
Won't be this year though, too many irons in the fire.
