Ford 3600 - whitwhorth thread?

I've got a Ford 3600 with the 3 cyl diesel. it has (2) bosses on the right side (one above the other separated by about 14") that have (2) tapped holes in each. I'd like to use these pads to mount an accessory I'm planning to add to the tractor. I tried a 5/8" bolt (too small, slips right in) and a 3/4" bolt (too big by a hair). Is this a 11/16" Whitwhorth thread? If so, I notice it's tough to find them locally. McMaster-Carr is my "go-to" supplier and they don't have them.

I'm thinking of drilling them out and re-tapping for 3/4" bolts, which I have on hand. Anybody try this? Or anybody got a supplier for the British bolt sizes? Finding the right bolt would ultimately be easier.

If your talking about the bosses on the side of the clutch housing the ones on my tractors are 3/4. Take a tap and clean them out as they probably have paint and dirt in them.
The ones in the front axle booster are also 3/4.

Nah, they're either 5/8" UNC or 3/4" UNC depending on the location.
Side bosses are usually 5/8. They saved the exotic $hit for inside.

Thanks, guys! I'll clean them up, makes sense since I'm sure they didn't plug the holes during factory painting. Hopefully, we've got a 3/4" tap at work.

I'm speaking more generally than the 3600 specifically..... but if you want examples, I believe the IJ pump hardware is all metric, the PTO shaft on the 4 cylinders uses an extra fine thread... things like that. Newer models use extensive amounts of metric thread.... as in all cab hardware on the Q cabs. 30 series shuttle transmissions are fully metric, etc. Lots of little things you notice over the course of time.
