Shift pattern for 59?

New owner here. After countless hours of work I've got my 1959 Ford 1821 up and running. Love this thing. However, slightly confused on transmission shift pattern. 3 gears feel roughly the same and one being very tall. Any help is appreciated.

The shift pattern should be the same as all 4 speed 4 cylinder Ford tractors made from 1956-1964. It might also have a Sherman Auxiliary transmission, which would have a handle on the left side of the bell housing. There were a few Sherman's available, the mos popular being the "combo" which had a step-up and a step-down range, and on the industrial models another popular one was a reverser. If 1 through 3 all feel really slow and fourth feels considerably faster, it is possible that it has the Sherman combo and the Sherman is in the step-down range.

Pattern should be in raised lettering on top of transmission case.

Standard Ford 4 speed for 4 cyl is:

R - 4 - 1
----N---
2 - 3

Still can't edit the dang thing and the internet rendered my response incorrectly. The 2 should line up with the 4 and the 3 with the 1.

This site seems to reduce multiple space characters to a single space. A trick to use is use the extended ACII 0xFF character. 0xFF is a hexadecimal number, which when translated to decimal is 255. So when you want to insert what looks like multiple space characters into a post hold down the Alt key, and while holding it down type "255" on the numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard, then release the Alt key. Repeat as many times as you want the space character to appear in a row. In the bottom row below I did it 5 times to move the 2 & 3 over to line up under the 4 & 1 respectively.

R - 4 -1
-------
     2 - 3
