Ford 600 Hyd. Lift Problem Fix by Putting Hole In Filter

I have Ford 600 Tractor. The lift does not work. I bleed the pump. The pump does work. A old farmer told me to remove a plate under seat there will be filter. I should put a hole in the filter and the lift will start to work again. Has anybody else put hole in this filter and does it work? Thanks for all reply. I am new to these type of tractor.

there is no filter under the seat on a ford 600.

The only plate is the plate where a hydraulic remote valve would bolt up, and removing that is just going to expose holes and leak some fluid out.

If you remove that plate be sure that your lift arms are all the way down first.

wwww, probably needs a little 'skin conditioner' anyway.

Ford made a dealer installed filter kit to filter the hydraulic oil on all 100 series tractors and if that filter(Motorcraft FL1A)became plugged the lift arms would not go down unless weighted.

The problem that was described was that the lift doesn't work, not that it won't go down.

Even if there were a filter that was clogged causing such a problem, the fix would not be to poke a hole in the filter. The fix would be to replace the fluid and the filter.

As time goes on, I realize more & more how "old farmers" were really hacks...
