12 volt pump amp fuse?

Iam done with my 12 volt boomless sprayer build . I picked up a flojet diaphram pump 5 amp what size inline fuse should I install. The pump is a 40-60 psi pump 1.35 GPM th.the black rain boomless nozzle seems to work well with water test I was getting a 10 foot swath .

(quoted from post at 10:24:10 06/26/16) Its 5 amps is the standard to double the amps.

It's standard to go to the next standard size up from what the circuit is expected to handle on a regular basis. If it was a 5, 6, 7,8 and maybe even a 9 amp pump then a 10 amp fuse would be appropriate, but I might go up to a 15 amp fuse with a 9 amp pump if it's going to be run in hot weather. If it was a 10, 11, 12, 13 and maybe even a 14 amp pump then a 15 amp fuse would be the correct one, etc.

I should also mention that you should use the appropriate wire for the rating of the fuse. A fuse is there to protect the entire circuit, not just the pump but the wire as well. You can do a Google search on 12 volt wire gauge recommendations for specific current ranges.

remember.. you fuse should first protect the wiring and also protect the load.

so make sure your wiring is not below the fuse rating.
