my 1968 ford 2000 3cyl diesel has operated without hassle for a long time, but after an early summer clean up (power washing)
the idiot light for the charging system stays on. what have I done or what has changed. It still has the original 12 volt generator which has been perfect except when brush hogging and the outer most wire on the back of the gen got knocked off and then the light came on and I would just plug the spade terminal back on and all was ok. Not THIS TIME--did I get the regulator wet and mess up something? Have to make note that is the tractor that went swimming in he pond and all electrical was fine. Fluids etc. had to be changed but all is well after several years, except for the idiot light now!

would disconnect battery, remove VR cover, make sure it is clean & dry inside.

I forgot to add that I inadvertently left the key on over night did that mess up the voltage reg?
