My tractors that I have had now and in the past usually run around 180-195F on the temperature. It sounds like your gauge is faulty and will need to be replaced. Most fords usually use a 2" opening in the dash. Unless you have the newer dash and then it is merely a sending unit with a attached wire that simply unplugs.

Looks like the original question disappeared. So I'll "ad-lib...musical term for play by ear".

I have such a tractor and replaced my gauges several years ago. NAPA had the gauges. The temp gauge comes with the sense tube attached, no connection and a variety of connectors (adapters) for attachment at the engine. 2" diameter is what they have and what fits. Just be careful in installing and don't kink the tube. There is excess tube length as these are after market units and made to fit most anything, but just carefully form what you don't need up under the sheet metal somewhere so that you don't see it and don't worry about it. Do not try to shorten the tube....besides you don't need to.

I was trying to reply to another thread of same topic. Some how the board created a new thread while leaving a duplicate in the original thread. Alas I am still learning this forum and getting the thread removed is not easy.
