901 axle support

So I've been looking at front end loader options for my ford 981 but stopped after reading my manual and evaluating the wide front axle support.

Has anyone repaired or replaced the front axle support on a wide front row crop model?

It appears only four bolts hold this in place. What size and type are factory?

I haven't changed one, but according to the parts site the bolts are all 5/8"-18 (5/8" diameter and 18 threads per inch), and two of them are 2.25" long and the other two are 3" long.

Hey thanks.

I guess I'm really trying to see if I can beef it up somehow on the process to help maybe support a front end loader.

I've looked at many loaders and the support and weight distribution are the real sticky points it seems on the 901 tractors

We have a 961 with wide front, have had a one arm loader on it and front mount cultivator. I think one advantage compared to the 860 is that the front axle is farther forward so it supports the loader weight better (put your hand closer to the shovel kind of thing). Bad point is the turning radius is in the school bus range. Best thing is to keep the front wheels spaced in tight to double up the knee braces to the center pivot.
