Distributor replacment

Hello everyone,

I am working on what I was told was a 1959 860, which needs a new distributor. I ordered one but the shaft is about 1/4" longer on the new one when you measure from the bottom of the gear to the bottom of the shaft. The body appears to be the same. Looking at images online it looks like the longer shaft is normal. Any ideas? Of course the part number on the old distributor is gone so now help there.....

Thanks!

Haven't worked on a 100 series gas in many years so can't help on the shaft lengths but if it's and 59 model it should be a 861.
Look for the model and serial numbers on the transmission case behind the starter next to the battery box.
Knowing what you have helps folks on this forum help you.

undred series gas tractors will all be same distributor and if gear is in correct position & there is no interference in the distributor shaft slipping over oil pump drive shaft, I would expect no problem in the shaft being a bit longer.
