Got my replacement fuel gauge today from Dennis Carpender. I installed it and it does not work. If remove the wire from the new
sender unit. The needle on the gauge will move off of empty and stop at 3/4 full mark. If I ground the wire from the sender unit.
The needle goes back to empty.

The new sender unit I'm sure is working. On my Ohm meter it shows 117 empty and 005 when full.

The gauge does not come with any instructions (not even in Spanish) on how to wire it up. The gauge has three terminals marked
(B), (T), and (six volts)

Any one have any trouble with Dennis Carpender fuel gauges?

the black wire goes to the sending unit , the white wore goes to a fuse and turns red and goes to the terminal block

ok just looked at my original one, it is not like the china junk that is sold by many,my original only has 2 wires, the new stuff has three one is a ground, then the b & t terminal . I would guess the B is for the black wire and the t is for the white, but only 2 ways to hook it up try and see

ure looks to me like the sender & gauge do NOT belong together.....bassackwards! Ground =Zero Ohms=Empty on gauge, but 005='near' Zero=Full on sender.

I went and looked at dads Fords. Both have aftermarket fuel gauges that work. One is a 1962 4000 RC on 12 volts negative ground. the other tractor is also a 641. Both of dads tractors are wired like I described. The black wire is on the terminal marked "T". the white wire is on the terminal marked "B" and the ground wire is on the terminal marked "six volts". Only difference on the 4000 is the ground is marked "12 volts".

I brought dads 6 volt gauge home with me. Put it in with the new sender unit from DC. Dads gauge worked. Looks to me like DC sent me two defective gauges.

I tested the sender on dads tractor and it was the same way. Full was showing 007. can't remember what the empty reading was.

I bought the sender and gauge at the same time from Dennis Carpender. If they don't match he is selling the wrong parts.

Dad bought his parts from external_link. They look like the same parts I bought from DC. I paid a lot more to have the DC name on the
made in China box.

would not be as quick to claim defective, as I would be to claim that they are sender/gauge mismatch.

A single gauge only needs 2 wires at most. I would guess that the third wire is for an illumination bulb that the original gauge did not have.
