Ford 800 series value/pricing

Hi,

I'm still on my search for a tractor. Recently a Ford 800 series cam on my radar, and I'm wondering generally what a good price for one would be. I don't know the specific model, only that it's an 800 series. It looks like it's in pretty good shape based on photos. I haven't been to see it in person yet.

No attachments, just the tractor. Tires look good.

Thank you.

condition and options take it, as Dean said, from sub 1000 to mid 4 digits..

tell us if it has power steering, how is the tin, does it run and start good.. gas or diesel, any problems.. have working 3pt and pto?

what trans?

Here's a photo that will hopefuly help. All in all it looks to be in pretty good shape. I'm not sure of power steering/trans/etc. According to the listing, everything works. Looks to be gas since it has ignition components.

Not a bad looking tractor.
No PS on it.
Price will still depend on which
transmission it has and whether it has live
pto or not or whether it has a Sherman aux.
transmission.
Rear tire looks good from here but they
would need to match and have minimal
checking to bring top price. A remote hyd
valve adds a couple hundred $ if it has one.
Assuming tractor runs good, good OP, no
smoke, knocks, rattles and clutch, brakes,
lift work good I'd say $3000 - $4000 in
these parts. Low end for 4 or 5 speed
without live pto. Higher with 5 speed with
it.

Thanks.
Assuming the things I mentioned above are good I would definately buy that tractor at that price.
Of course I'd try to get the seller to throw in the mower too but would buy just the tractor if the mower didn't come with it.

Mower is gone :(

It's an 860 with **1 fenders.

Looks to be in decent shape.

$3,500+ in my area if no serious issues.

Silly question, what is the **1 fenders? What tells you it's an 860?

Thanks for the info, I plan to go see it.

The Hundred Series had different style
fenders. Larger and more rounded in a way.
The 01 series and 4 cyl Thousands used that
same style/ shape of fenders but had the
Ford script on them.
I think those are actually 3 cylinder
Thousand Series fenders. Same shape but no
script.
Couple of ways to tell an X00 from an X01 -
fenders as I mentioned. 00 had script hood.
01 did not. 800 had same grill as Jubilee.
801 had egg crate grill.
Of course after 60 years who knows what all
has been interchanged.

Assess the engine from oil pressure and compression gauge. Assess the hydraulics by weighting the 3 pt and seeing if it holds or settles.

I'd say worth a look. If I were looking for another tractor right now I would have been up to see it already. His mower for sale was priced way too high.

gas or diesel,

I suppose you'll find a mutt somewhere, but you won't find an 800 series from the factory with a diesel engine!

The 800's are far more tractor for the little extra money.
Both of the 800's pictured look to me like someone has put
lipstick on a pig so I would want to check them over carefully.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with them, I've only seen
the same pictures you have, but when the outside of the rims
are painted and the insides are not, that raises flags for me.
So does the spray paint job on the center hubs and lugnuts.
Couldn't be bothered to take the tires off?
What other shortcuts were taken?

The price is fair if they're in good mechanical condition.
Nothing I'm going to jump in the truck and go get tonight.
They've already been out there for weeks, so either no one
saw them or the people who did saw something they didn't like.

It looks to be in decent condition and not terribly priced as compared to the prices of tractors right now. If I had that money and I wanted a nice 8N I would probably
go check it out. For that price for me I would have to have working brakes on it and no smoke from the engine, minimal to no leaks, etc, etc. There are a couple newer
Massey Fergusons right now with live hydro and PTO around $3000 and a little over if you ain't stuck to Ford. Lots of guys on here will be blasting N's, but I still do
enjoy them, despite the non live power. If you'd be interested in a 2n right I might consider selling ya mine, it runs and drives great, just not pretty.
