I am looking at a Ford 6000 that the owner is saying it has transmission problems. No 5th thru 8th gear. How big of project is that to repair?

If you don't mind my asking, where abouts are you located? There's a 6000 for sale on CL near me in MI that says runs good has trans problems. I think most if not all the 6000's have Select-o-speed, so I haven't really considered it, despite how much I like the 6000's. I'm for sure not any kind of person that knows a lot about select-o-speeds, but from what I've heard and read, could need the bands adjusted.

while it is possible it could be B2, that would also disable Park.

The most probable cause of this is a tiny steel pin in the servo interlock cover on the left side of the transmission. The last time I replaced one of these, the little pin cost about 10 cents. I suppose it's inflated by now. Then add labor to adjust bands and the cost of a filter and new oil. I charged less than one hundred dollars to do that job.
