3 Cylinder Seat Stud

I removed the seat from my 3610 and on the rear stud with nut, the nut was rusted enough so the stud screwed out before the nut gave. And it has a long rod on it which looks like it serves some function internally. Can I just put it back and go on, or did I screw something up?

Thanks!

I've had the pin come out on my tractors before and haven't had any problems after putting it back in, but I make sure not to operate the lift until the pins back in.
Get the nut off and clean the threads then put the pin back in and install the seat.

I didn't operate the lift yet, but my purpose for removing the seat was to replace the leveling box on the hitch, so I did lift the lift arms by hand with the pin out.

That pin is the anchor for the draft control plunger, which is the rod that comes out the rear of the top cover and connects to the top link rocker. It comes out of the back of the lift cover through a large spring, which may or may not have a steel cylindrical covering over the spring.

If you didn't notice anything move back near the top link rocker when the pin came out then you should be able to slide the pin back in easily. If it does not go back in easily you may be able to just push the plunger back in far enough for the pin to slide in, but if not, you can loosen the yoke on the end of the plunger to relieve the pressure so you can push it in far enough, but loosening the yoke may cause the plunger rod to spin so you may have to rotate the rod once you loosen it up enough so that things line up again.

Thanks for that explanation. :) So it looks like even if I messed it up I can make it right from the outside.
