I can't seem to identify what year it is. #'s are 9M 30 B
AJ 7016
E1 01 7
0A30
Any help to identify year & other info?
Getting read for a split to renew clutch/pressure plate etc

9m30b is a date code.. Likely Dec 30 1969

Units post 3-68 should have a model I'd beginning with an E

These are aft of the starter on the bellhousing

E1017 is most of the model number. E10 says that it is a 5000 ag chassis tractor made after 4/1/68. The second 1 says that it has a diesel engine. The 7 says that it has independent 540 RPM PTO, and there should be one more character at the end which should be a letter to tell us what transmission is has, a C for an 8 speed or an E for a Select-O-Speed are the two most likely candidates.

AJ7016 looks like a mangled partial serial number. The A indicates that it was assembled at the plant in Antwerp, Belgium, but the J is most likely actually a numeral, not a letter. The entire serial number should be a single letter (A, B, or C) followed by a 6 digit number.

9M30B and 0A30 are both date codes, and they stamped a lot of tractors at the European assembly plants with the date codes for the transmission assembly and the tractor assembly on the same side. The US built tractors usually had the transmission date code on the opposite side of the tractor form the rest of the numbers. So I am guessing that the transmission was assembled on December 30, 1969 and that the tractor was assembled on January 30, 1970.

additional scraping w/a file revealed a "C" to indicate 8 speed which it is. On the other side of the transmission the pad is stamped 9M30B and AJ 7016. I am certain that it is a "J". The tractor just did not match up with identification on Tractor Data . com...... Guess it is time to tear into it and spend some bucks. Anyhow, I'm pleased with the tractor, has good rubber and otherwise well preserved for its age. Thanks for the help. brownsmule in NC

The AJ 7016 # is "stamped" into the transmission where Ford stamped data/info. E1 01 7 C and 0A30 is stamped on the pad behind the starter, the other #'s are on the pad on the other side of the transmission. Seems that many variations show up from time to time. brownsmule in NC

The 0A30 on the side with the starter and the model number is definitely the Unit Number then, which says that the tractor was assembled on January 30, 1970. The 9M30B on the opposite side is the date code for when the transmission was assembled, which was December 30, 1969. I don't know what that AJ7016 number is though on the side with the transmission date code.

Are you sure that there's not a third number on the side where the starter is? The serial number should be on the same side as the Model Number and Unit Number. It might not be on the part of the flat spot that's ground smooth. It might be up on the rougher part of the casting. You might have to scrape some paint off up on that rough area to see it.

An internet search of aj7016+tractor turns up quite a few ford hits.. No info.. People just posting their numbers...

Also, there might be a foil sticker on the under side of the right hood panel, above the battery. If that sticker is still there and is still legible, post the numbers from that.

Even without the serial number you should have enough information now to be able to order the correct parts for your clutch job. It's a early 1970 5000 with a diesel engine and an 8 speed transmission.

I just looked at the parts site and the date the tractor was made definitely matters on that clutch. A January 1970 clutch should use the parts drawing in the following link:

[u:ff4111cf74] (07E06[A]) - SINGLE CLUTCH ASSY. - 2000, 3000, 4110, 4200 (10-69/) 5000 (10-69/5-71) 4100 (10-69/9-71) EXCEPT 3400, 3500, 3550[/u:ff4111cf74]

Note that the drawing is for a number of similar clutch assemblies for multiple models, and the part numbers will vary for the same part based on the model number of the tractor.

Dont you love having machines with manufacture dates right at parts breaks:)

My mid 68 3000 is like that right near the march/april break.

I have a late 75 5000 that has the common sump setup like a 5600..
