Ford 3000 coil part number

For a stock 1968 Ford 3000 gasser with the 12v generator, can anyone tell me the NAPA part number for the coil? Thanks.

IC14 or IC14SB direct 12 volt no resistor required

IC7 or IC7SB for 6 volt or 12 volt external resistor required.

IC 7 or 14 is premium line, IC7SB or 14SB is their economy line. I have used several IC14SB and have had no problem with them

Thanks. That is great to know. Any idea if the stock setup had a resistor or not? Or could that vary? I haven't had this tractor long enough to know a few of those things yet. But I am getting there!

The stock setup on a 3000 had a resistor wire between the key switch and the coil. It is not a normal looking ballast resistor but it serves the same function. Follow the wire from the coil back toward the keyswitch and you should find a section that's much thicker than the wire is right at the coil. My '73 4000 was missing the original resistor wire when I got it but whoever had removed it had replaced it with a regular ceramic ballast resistor.

Thanks. That's very informative. Guess I'll be tracing wires tonight before buying a coil!

Appreciate it.

If he uses the IC14SB he will need to replace the wire from the switch to the coil with regular wire that has no resistance

Ok, it has a RUC15 "Ignition Coil 12 Volts Internal Resistor" coil on it right now. Guess it has been replaced in the past. Now I know what coil to get. Thanks everyone.
