Now keep in mind my head is down low with embarrassment. . . so be kind.

For some odd reason I have never noticed this lever on the right side and can for the life of me see a use. Not the three point, (not that dumb) and I know how to engage the PTO on the right. . . but what the heck is that other lever for. Now I know some of you are going to have a hard time resisting a jab, and I understand and can deal with it so long as one as an answer.

Lever on the right as in where??? All control are based as a person sitting on the seat. The PTO lever is on the left hand side about where your heel is when sitting on the tractor. Then on the right you have the 3 point control and under it is the position/draft control lever and up is position and down if for draft. You use draft for things like plowing but things like a brush hog you use the position control.
So where is this lever that you have a question about?????????////

Same side as three point position control just under the seat. It has always been in the up position. We use the tractor mainly with box blade, brush hog, and a middle buster. If you got the time please explain the usage in some detail.
Much appreciated,

Okay sounds like the draft/position control. You use it in draft for ground engaging equipment like a plow or disk etc. The linkage is set up so in draft if the plow sinks down to deep the 3 point will try to keep it right where it should be and also pul it up some to help with traction.
In position control it is for things like blades etc so you can set a position for the blade to run and it will stay where ever it is set at.
Send me an e-mail and I'll scan the page from the owners manual that explains it better then I can.

Be careful when you move that lever. Could be for an ejection seat release. As the others have said,
draft-position control lever.

That was my fear. . . lol
You think the little tractor got me lost; just wait! Getting ready to start re-working a Case 580B

I should have never retired.

I just did some work on a Case 580B on Sunday. I have a friend who owns a 580B and guess who has to keep it running for him
