Brush hogging today and a noise developed. Looks as though the fan blade shroud is loose. Its not the fan blade but rather the housing it bolts to. Is there a bolt inside of the housing that might have came loose and if there is what size of socket do I need and can I get to it from the front without pulling the radiator or do I have to replace something. Water pump is not leaking. Looking for some good advice. Thanks Norm

I am not sure what your problem is but if the fan is wobbling then it would be a water pump bearing I think. That would require a water pump replacement.

The shroud is bolted to the radiator it self and not part of the blade assembly. Sound like you need to take the fan belt loose then spin the water pump/fan by hand and see if that is where the noise is. Also make sure the fan is not loose and that the fan shaft does not have a bunch of play in it

That long spacer between the 3 blade fan and the belt pulley
is part of the pulley. It is press fit onto the water pump.
If that is what's loose its probably time for a new water pump.
Or a rebuild on that one. Before it goes through the radiator.

Water Pump

The pulley assembly is wobbly. Blade itself is fine just there is a lot of play in the assembly so it sounds as though I need a water pump. thanks norm
