ford 3600 issues

I recently inherited a Mid-eighties Ford 3600 3 cyl gas engine tractor from my late father. It ran fine last season but has starting issues this year. I have replaced key switch and starter relay plus wire from relay to coil. The coil seems to be fine but I am not getting any fire to the plugs. Resistance check of coil looks good, and I am getting around 10 volts to coil. Any suggestion of where to go from here would be agreat help.

Is it really a 3600 or is it really mid 80's.. :)

In any case.. As a test, jump bat to coil and recheck spark. If nada, put a test lamp inline with the primary wiring and the coil and roll over. Lamp should blink.

I take it you have checked voltage to the dist? If you have voltage there take the cap off
and see if the points are arcing,if not run some sandpaper (fine wet or dry)folded in half
thru the points and recheck, check the inside of the cap and rotor and shine up the surfaces
there also,if you have good connections everywhere it should solve the problem.

If your 3600 is wired like my '78 335, you should have 12 volts to the coil in the "start" position and then after it's running about 10 volts thru the resistor wire in the "run" position. Don't forget about the condenser, this may have gone south on you.

hanks to all who answered. It is a 3600, mid-eighties could have been when the tractor was purchased. The tractor is about a 100 miles away from where I live so I won't be able to try any of the suggestions until this weekend but will post again on Monday.

ractor is up and running. Did the voltage check at distributor as suggested and wasn't getting anything. Original troubleshooting had a bad wire between coil and relay and a split boot from coil to distributor. Replaced those with no luck butapparently replaced coil at some point too. Anyway, put old coil back on and it fired up. Thanks guys for all the help. Considering the steepness of the learning curve I'm sure I will become a regular on this forum.
