'63 2000 alternator

Friends 2000 that had been sitting (uncovered) for years, generator rusted solid, regulator trashed and mouse-eaten wiring......elected to go the one-wire alternator route from Stiener.

Runs (now) like a champ but will only stop by disconnecting the alternator. The alternator is currently wired to the "run"side of the ignition switch.

Somebody 'splain to me where I went wrong!

I suspect a diode is in my future but have no idea as to size (p/n) nor direction and location.

HELP, please.

f is a one-wire alternator, then that one wire needs to go to load side of ammeter or if no ammeter, then to battery terminal side of starter solenoid.

Are you kidding? is this a joke?

Are you saying that the single wire from this 1 wire alternator is wired to the COIL ( RUN ) side of the ignition switch, and you are UNSURE why the machine will not turn off?

when you turn the key off, you disconnect the battery from the coil.. but the alt is still on the coil side.

alt makes power when it spins.

starting to be clearer now?

I'd like to point out that you are charging your battery thru your ignition switch and small wires.

this has to be one of the worst wire jobs I've heard of.

do yourself and the machine a favor and hook the single charge wire to the battery side of the starter solenoid...

It should charge even better once you move that wire, and you will be good to go. Post back if you hit a snag.
