Ford 600 starting warm engine problem

I have a Ford 600 that starts reasonably well but when warm will not restart. Electrical was all gone thru last year. New distributor, new coil, new condenser, new wiring harness, Has original 6 volt system. What else could it be?

What kind of spark does it have when engine is warm? It should be blue if you pull out a plug wire from the dist. cap and crank engine. If it's red or no spark, chances are the condenser or the coil is bad. Check if the coil is HOT not just warm from the engine heat. Even though these parts are new they can go bad without notice.

If spark is good, then check the intake manifold bolts and see if they are tight when warm(might be a vacuum leak when engine is warm).

Just somewhere to start at for you.

Check your spark at all 4 plug wire when it does not start. You need a blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more.
Next make sure you have a good steady flow of gas from the carb drain plug that flows for 3 minutes and fill a pint jar in that time or less.
Also make sure the gas tank vent it open by carefully opening the gas cap. Listen for a suction or pressure in the tank either one will tell you the vent is clogged

ared with the others.

when it won't start, check spark. if spark is good, next check fuel.

post back.

If you have spark and fuel check for low compression, valves may need adjusted, worst case the engine is worn out. Compression needs to be 100 psi min, more is better.

had the same problem on one of my fords. Found corrosion on the dist end of the coil to dist lead.
