Removing selectospeed shifter cable

I have a 671 parts tractor with a good selectospeed cable and shifter, I want to remove it to sell on eBay so someone can use it rather than it rust to uselessness in my yard. Be darned if I can find where I put my manual and don't want to break the rare cable removing it.

which shifter, gear or PTO?

I don't have my book in front of me, so going off memory, I believe for the gear selector it was :

1- remove shifter housing from dash
2- shift handle to 10th with it removed
(that should expose the "hook" on the cable at the trans cover)
3- unhook upper cable

Ok thanks, yes the gear shifter,
unfourtanatly I had broke the pto one
when removing sheet metal a while back.
So I just undo the nut and in high gear
it will unhook I don't have to remove
the top cover.

what nut are you talking about?

you don't undo the cable from the shifter, you physically remove the shifter from the dash by removing the 4 bolts. After shifter is just handing from the dash, you shift to 10th and you will see the cable end come out of the top cover. Yes you do NOT need to remove the top cover.

what are you looking to get for the shifter? I wouldn't mind having a spare (if you get it off without breaking it lol)

Yes disconnect the nut that holds the shift cable tube to the transmission top then after you have unbolted the shifter from the dash shift to 10th gear and the tube will separate from the top, you'll see where the two pieces connect together.

Yes I meant nut on trans tube I know the
cable and shifter stay together. What
would be fair? I see "refurbished" ones
on eBay asking almost 400 which seems
crazy. This one moves free and the
numbers are readable, tractor was
working daily till less than two years
ago when I bought it after the SOS blew
it's overunning clutch. I would like to
get something out of it but not looking
to make a fortune and would somewhat
prefer to skip the hassle of listing it
on eBay. Email is open
