Broken front end

The whole front end fell off my 4600 today. The part that broke is under the raditor attached to the frame. I have a photo but don't know how to post it. Big cast iron part looks like 4 bolts hold it on.

They generally call that the front bolster.
What broke? The bolster or the front of the
engine?
It shouldn't be too hard to find a used one.
I'm pretty sure one from a 3 cyl 4000 is the
same so from 1965 through 1983 should fit.

i think it was the pivot bracket

As John said - trunion bracket. They have a bushing in them. If that wears through, then they wear into the casting and eventually break.
Ultra is right, too - one from a '65-'75 4000 will work. I seem to recall either Ultra or his friend Kenny making a replacement for a broken one a few years ago, too.

I see them for sale on ebay . You can tell by the repeated similar auctions when a seller is parting out a tractor . Most scrappers don't bother listing that part because it is heavy and in low demand .

Search by nearest first and you may find a seller closer than you thought . You may have to ask if they have one available .

What is your zip code ?
