Posted a bit back about stalling after a tune up. After rebuilding carb, full tune up (with points) it came down to a tricking fuel line. After getting
the chunks out, the '61 871 powermaster runs like a dream.

Dead ringer for mine. I'd like to have words with who ever designed the fuel shutoff under the tank, though.

Thanks will! I wracked my brain and keep after it until no stone was unturned. This forum has some of the most seasoned tractor owners that are a wealth of knowledge.

I had to drain the tank and unscrew the housing off. I don't think there was any other way to do it! Truly a pain in the rear!

I've done the "Change the genuine New Holland/Ford fuel shutoff valve" job several times. Easiest way is to drain tank through the fuel line, remove the valve cover to gain a little room, park tractor on a hill so the remaining 1/2 gallon or so of fuel goes to one end of the tank, then change the valve.

Hello gentlemen; I was looking for this exact info for my Ford diesel 871. My old Ford fuel valve lasted over 30 years.I replaced it when I painted and tore down the tractor. I purchased a Starex from Napa in 2014, and it leaked, so off comes the sheet metal , drain the tank, install 2nd starex valve in 2015, works a while and LEAKS! The tractor is seldom used except for brush chopping. The shutoff screw in the valves, is so loose it closes by itself, shutting down the tractor, and fuel leaks around the screw whether open or closed. The vibration of PTO causes it- I think.
I Emailed starex but they don't respond.
Is there another Manufacturer? Was this your problem also? Rebob#1
