FORD 335 3-cylinder gas tune up parts, are they compatible?

Hi Everyone, So it's official, I'm now a proud owner of a FORD 335 tractor. However, it doesn't run, so I want to start with the basic tune up parts. My local TSC carries many of these parts but doesn't list those specifically for this model (I think anyway?). But they do list a tune up kit, distributor cap and coil for other models that would of also had a 3-cylinder gas engine. Are these parts compatible with the 335? Enclosed is a photo from the TSC catalog. Thanks in advance, Steve

Don't buy ignition parts from TSC.
They are Very poor quality.
Go to Napa and get Blue Streak or some other
reputable brand.
Ask for parts for a 3000 - any year.
They are the same as yours and they will be
easier for the parts man to find.

What parts are those part numbers for? They can't be for complete tune-up kits including the distributor cap or the one for the Ford "2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 1965 & up 2600, 3500, 4100, 4600, 5600, 6600 1975 & up" has to be flat out wrong, as all of the models starting with a 2, 3 or 4 all have 3 cylinder engines and the ones starting with 5 and 6 are 4 cylinder.

But if that is just for the points or the coil or something like that then yes that part number would also fit your 335. The engine in your 335 is exactly the same as the 3600 and shares the ignition parts with pretty much all of the 1965-1983 (or somewhere around 1983) 3 cylinder models. Those would include the following:

1965-1974 models:
2000, 2110, 3000, 3400, 3500, 4000, 4000SU, 4110, 4400, 4500 (Note: There were earlier models called 2000 and 4000 that had 4 cylinder engines that were made before 1965 and those are not the same, also there was a later model called the 2110 as well that was a compact tractor made by a Japanese company named Shibaura for Ford and that one is not compatible either)

1975-1983 models:
2600, 3600, 4100, 4600, 4600SU, 231, 335, 420, 445, 531, 535, 545, 550

If you still want to be a proud ford owner, do not buy ignition parts from TSC. Chinese junk, often bad right out of the package. Go to your local
Napa or O' Reilly's.

PS,
Putting points in those is a pia.
I remove all 4 wires from the cap and pull them up through the manifold to get them out of your way. Then take dist cap out of the tractor completely.
Put your points in and replace the rotor and cap.
Thread your wires back down though the manifold.
Engine firing order is 1, 2 3 starting from the front of the engine. #1 plug is marked on dist cap. Dist turns counter clockwise.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll definitely avoid TSC then. I was just hoping to find something local so that I could get her up and running to make for easier removal. Not much luck at NAPA or O'Reillys. Steve

Get a PerTronix ignition kit and do away with the points.

Thank you for the tip, I'll keep that in mind.

Question though, Is there room enough to pull the distributor, without removing the intake manifold and front-end loader? Thanks. Steve

You can pull the dist with the intake on but I don't know about working on it with a loader.
You don't have to pull the dist to put the PerTronix kit in, it replaces you points.
You will need a stubby screw driver

Thank you. I took a look at the PerTronix kit, looks like a must have, so I'll be ordering one soon. I'm gonna try pulling the distributor today, hopefully it slips by the loader frame. Thanks again my friend. Steve
