Update on 172 Ford industrial engine

Well took the head off and it doesn't
look pretty. Starter turns but Bendix
is stuck. Water pump is shot. Generator
is shot. Here's a couple pics.

Does the block have sleeves?
If so it wouldn't be hard to pull the pistons out with the sleeves. Pry or cut the sleeves off the pistons to get at the wrist pins and save the rods.
If it is the newer unsleeved block it could be bored oversize.
Disheartening to see but salvageable.

Don't know where you are located but I've got better one I would sale,if you want to start with one in better condition

I'm in Wisconsin Kirk. Yes it does have sleeves ultra. Sean ,I don't think any amount of buffing is going to help. Lol. I haven't taken the oil pan off yet. The piston with the hole is #4 and the #2 sleeve has a hole in it.

Soak them with a couple squirts of WD40 and pistons will slide right out.

Joking aside, hole in piston could be caused by pre-ignition?
