The problem was seldom but got worse until it no longer starts at all.

Starts right up like it should. Imediately. After awhile the engine dies.

It stops just like you got off the seat. Engine stops right now, no sputter.

You don’t have to make any changes or touch anything, just quits.

When key is on the dash lights are always on. A little while later it starts right
up again. Don’t have to grind the starter. Starts right up. (of course now it
won’t start at all!)

Didn’t have to touch or wiggle anything for it to restart. Turn the key and the
starter motor turns the engine and it fires right up. UNLESS it is not ready to
start, then the starter motor does not turn at all.

I’m not hearing any solenoid clicks. Don’t know if I should.

The seat switch measures full continuity while being sat upon.

(quoted from post at 18:17:59 04/19/16) Changed the fuel filter lately?

No. But that does not explain why the starter does not crank. Is there some kind of solenoid or pressure switch for fuel pressure? My problem is electric, is it not? I don't know?

You have probably had critters munching on the wiring harness behind the instrument cluster.

(quoted from post at 04:44:19 04/20/16) Electrical gremlins in the dead man switch or fuel shutdown circuit.

Dean

Fuel shut down circuit? What makes the fuel shut down? Is that a solenoid? What activates it?

Would it make the tractor shut off immediately? Or would it sputter a bit?

The seat safety switch, the brake safety switch, and the gear switch test good. The key switch works. There is power to the starter. Whats this fuel shut down thing?
