9n conversion issues

I have a 1943 9n, 6v positive ground that I am converting to a 12 volt neg. ground. I bought the kit here and have completed the conversion, BUT when I push the start button it rotates the wrong direction. Standing in front of the tractor instead of 1-2-4-3 it's 1-3-4-2.
Do I need to also change the starter? Most of what I've read says no.....

Impossible, the bendix only engages one
direction. Not to mention a starter only
turns one way regardless of polarity.
Only way this could happen is if you
swapped in a different starter or
flipped the windings inside, but even
then it would need a different starter
drive bendix

Check again. Do you mean turning over or firing/sparking in that order? Pretty easy to mix up the plug wires. I redid a distributor on a 9n once and mixed up 2 plug
wires at the distributor. Had me baffled for a little while until I got it straightened out.

Starter will only spin one way no matter which way it is grounded. Plus the starter drive will not engage the flywheel ring gear if it turned back wards

When I got the tractor the guy had started some restoration on it, I never saw it running. The spark plug wires were chewed on by mice so, BEFORE I took them off I marked on the distributor what wire went where. I printed a wiring diagram off the internet and it shows the rotor turning counterclockwise with the #1 in the upper left position. I think the problem is whether the diagram shows the rotation from the front of the distributor or the back. So as your sitting on the tractor is #1 on left side or right side?

ight

Most all caps are marked as to which nipple is to which cylinder. NEVER seen one tha twas not marked with a #1 or #2 or #3 and #4 on each nipple.

I just looked and half of the caps for sale on eBay do not have numbers .

It came down to I was looking at diagram as though it was showing the front of the distributor; it was showing rotation of distributor from rear. In rather faint writing it said, "Looking forward toward the radiator" Glasses, need to wear them.....
