Can someone please help me ID this tractor?

Hello Everyone, I'm new here and new to the tractor scene. I'm looking to purchase the enclosed tractor but would like to know as much about it as I can (before making an offer). Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. From what I've learned so far, I believe CU223 indicates a model 335 and it was built on Feb 15, 1978? But this is only a guess. Thank you in advance, Steve

you are correct on the date, they began the 335 in 1975, so the unit number would be a 1978, Feb 15,second shift

if I remember the numbers right, that's a gas burner with a 8 speed? can't remember the pto numbers though.
Does it have a PTO and the three point hitch? If not, it's not something you want to try to add.
Those were some great years for the small Ford industrials. Small size, good front axle and a step above the farm loaders out at that time

Teh CU2 at the beginning of the model number says that it is a 335. The second "2" says that it has a gasoline engine. The 3 after that says that it has live PTO and the C at the very end says that it has an 8 speed transmission.

As JoeM says, they began production on the 335 in 1975, and you are correct in that the Unit Number says that it was built on February 15, 1978. That serial number, C564677, is a 1978 serial number as well.

The rest of the numbers just tell you when the individual components of the tractor were assembled.

The 335 was the "Utility" tractor of the 3xxx series that was made at the same time as the 3600 ag chassis tractor. The 335 replaced the 3400 that was made from 1965-1974. It has a single piece non-adjustable front axle that was designed for loader work. If it was properly maintained it should be a good reliable tractor for many years to come, with the caveat that you don't know when any particular part was replaced in the past so you don't know what might be due to be replaced in the near future. These tractors were designed to have parts replaced as they wore out and run indefinitely as long as replacement parts are available, and replacement parts are still available for most standard maintenance and wear items.

If it is in good working order then it should be worth somewhere between $4800.00 and $7500.00 depending on what part of the country it is in. The rear tires look to have a good amount of tread left, but the shoulders of the tread bars appear to be crumbling a bit, and the front tires look like they're down to about 10 to 20 percent of their wear life left, so factor in the cost of new tires all around in the next few years, which is going to be somewhere between $1500.00 and $2000.00 depending on how the price of tires fluctuates.

Hi Guys, Thanks so much for the information, really do appreciate it. I'm sure I'll have many more questions regarding the 335 in the near future. At the moment though, does anyone know where I might find an electrical schematic for this unit? Thanks again. Steve
