6610 question

Went to an auction yesterday. One of the tractors there was labeled as a 6610 Series II with what appeared to be a factory cab. What puzzles me is that it has a flat deck operators platform and the shifters are on the right side instead of in the middle. Is this the way 6610 cab tractors were configured towards the end of the series? Was there such a thing as a 6710?

56/66/7610's were straddle mounts always in their open station configuration. Syncro transmissions had the shift levers on the steering column. Early cab models had a straddle cab as well. Later (10/85) onwards had the flat floor Super Q cab. Those models would have the shift levers mounted to the right on the floor.

There were also the 67/7710 models that were flat floor cab/platform models in a row crop config, right from the beginning. IIRC, the 6710 was discontinued around 85 as I don't think it got the Super Q cab...

The only other thing you might see out there is the menonite special.... with the glass beat out and doors removed.... and in some cases the A and B pillars removed from the cab.... so basically you're left with the flat deck of a Q cab.

The principal difference between the 56/66/7610 and the 67/7710 was the flat deck configuration and the 67/77 had a longer wheelbase, longer hood line with the rad moved 6"+ forward and a large fuel tank over the engine with a secondary under the left step.
