1955 969 Row Crop front wheel bearings/ hub issue.

This is probably an easy answer, need opinion.

1955 960 Row crop with dual wheel narrow front end.

I replaced the wheel bearing and cups using pn from the one I took out.

Upon installation of wheel back onto tractor, the right hand hub has approx 3/8 inch space that probably caused thr bearing to fail. The left hub as per picture.

Can I assume that I got two different year/model of hubs?

I'm assuming you are sure the bearings and races are properly seated on the axle and in the hub. If so, could it be possible the hub was worn down that much from the brg that was out? If not it could be the hubs are not both the same. Just my guess.

Yes, both races seated all the way. I also purchased bearing kit rom here but diameters mere too small. Every ford manual I could find stated I purchased the correct set. The only part from kit that fit was the oil seal, which the other side that did not remove, does not have. As for wearing out, I believe a possibliity, but I looks even all the way around. I would expect it to be rough and choppy and not smooth all the way around. I just noticed in my picture that the hub in question has nicer newer looking paint than the other one. My suspicion is that this hub has been replaced so has 2 different hubs, or revision change/alternate replacement. I am going to remove both hubs this weekend and look for casting numbers. Also the inner race just dropped right in, no pounding, so again pretty sure that it in all the way in.

If the race dropped in without driving it in something is definitely wrong. The races should have a "press" fit not just fall into the hub and the brgs should slide on the axle with minimal pushing(not loose and not tight if that makes any sense).

Sometimes if the races are not real loose in the hub, you can cheat a little using a center punch and going around where the race fits in and "peen" the hub so the race fits tighter in the hub.

I am guessing that hub might be shot or the wrong one completely.

It appears that some time during it's life time, the bearing was totally run out and the axle wore out the hub. In other words to properly fix this you will need a new (good) hub.

Did some more checking and found NCA 1106 on one of the hubs, but could not find any number onthe other one. I tried looking online for this 1106 hub. Unless I am doing my search way wrong, nca 1106 does not seem to exist. Also found that one of the spindles must had at one time that the rear bearing race spun. So then Iit appears that it was machined down and a spacer/ shim was made to bring back up to correct diameter and also the front threaded portion was welded back on. Will then assume that this was at one time broken off. Now in process of trying to find a new spindle assy. Or any machinist with skill, or magical power
