Rear seals on a Jubilee

I just picked up rear seals for my Jubilee at a tractor supply. Mine had the rope seals in both slots. The dealer gave me rubber seals for all the slots , no rope seals. He said they will work. Has anyone used rubber seals completely ? If so which way do the lips go on each set ?

Are you about the rear main on the engine crank seal? They have those at your local tractor supply? The lip goes toward the side with oil. For the rear main of the engine, you will also need a seal for the side wedge grooves. I had good luck with this:
