I just bought a ford 3400 tractor and need help identifying it the seria # are 340 22 G
C172880 7D25
The G is kinda offset between the 2 & 7. I would appreciate any help someone could give me. The site I look up don't match what I have.

Those numbers were hand stamped, and aren't
always nicely lined up.
C172880 is the serial number. The C indicates a U.S.
built tractor.
7D25 is a partial unit number (date code). There
should be an A, B, or C at the end, to designate which
shift built it. 7D25 would be 19267, April 25. Does it
have a louvrered hood?

It has side louvres and it looks to have an A under the G. What does the 172880 stand for do not seem to find a ref to those numbers.

34022G is the model number. It decodes as: 3 - 3000 series, 40 - utility model, 2 - gas engine, 2 - transmission driven 540 PTO, G - transmission type, which I'm not sure of.
C172880 is the serial number. .. In 1965, they started at C1001 (If I remember correctly), and continued on sequencially for each tractor coming off the assembly line, regardless of what model it was, continuing through the end of the series in 1975.
That should have been 1967 in my last post, not 19267. Stupid auto correct on this phone. ..

Nice tractor.
It looks like Fordfarmer has those numbers figured out for you.
I think those are the best.
That tractor is essentially a 3000 with a heavier, non adjustable front axle. So when looking for manuals for it a 3000 manual will cover about 95% of your needs.
For what it's worth, your tractor would have come from the factory with a 2 tone paint job.
Tin, fenders and wheels would have been light yellow - Ford called it Buff.
This is a 4400 but your paint scheme would have been the same.
PS, Welcome to the Ford board.
