Anybody have a source for a GOOD gas tank shut-off valve for a 640. Bought one from a after-market dealer and there wasn't enough threads to tighten the fuel line on it. Was going to get one from New Holland, but $97 for it. What is a good one from where?

KCTractors- If you ain't worried about correctness, I use a 1/4 turn Ball valve just before the sediment bowl.

Works great and no leaks!

The tank mounted shutoff valves used on older Fords can be a problem. About a year ago, I replaced the valve my 801 with a genuine, NH-Ford valve (the type that uses a lever and a 5/16" fuel line). Lasted about 6 months, then it simply wouldn't shut off the fuel supply any more. I blamed the 10% alcohol gas we get nowdays. I'm trying a shutoff from Steiner this time: http://www.external_link/ABC127-fuel-shut-off-valve

It uses a 1/4" fuel line, so I picked up a 1/4" to 5/16" flare fitting adapter at the auto store.

I bought a fuel shut off with screen for my 3000 . I have it tightened until the nut has run out of threads and it still drips , same with the fuel filter housing .

I noticed the internal seat is deep and an odd shape compared to the original . On the filter I managed to tap the flare tubing threads to a npt pipe thread and used an elbow and hose barb set up . I plan on first trying to grind off 1/8 to 3/16 of the shut off valve outlet to see if a few more threads on the nut will seal the brass Ferrell ?

I have decent results selling TISCO valves. Decent, not excellent. Sparex are junk. Haven't had anyone get disgusted enough to order a NH version from me ($$$).

Tis. sells 2 different valves, the cheap one comes with a oring but may leak, the one without the oring and has OE-LOR behind the part# is made by the same co. as NH sells and is a better one.

I worked on a 600 a few weeks ago the guy had installed a new elcheapo valve but it leaked... It had the wrong o-ring tween the valve and tank  , can they at least get that O-ring right...

I second that! I guess I inadvertently got the cheaper Tisco valve to replace the leaking shut-off valve on my 860 -- installed it and it leaked immediately. Went back to Temco, picked up the OE version, installed that one, and it's been good for almost two years now. I recall there was a noticeable difference in the valve action between the two units.

Meanwhile, I took apart the first valve and replaced the internal o-ring; hopefully when the one that's on there inevitably starts leaking I can just swap valves and keep on goin' . . .
