Ford industrial engine

I have a Ford industrial engine would like some information on it . type is JD1020, serial number is 2591-A23CA, casting number on block near oil dipstick is ED-JD-6015. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

There's not a lot of information out on the internet on the engine that you're asking about. Someone posted here back in 2010 that they had just bought a tractor that was originally an 850 that had had that same engine transplanted into it and the person they bought it from claimed that it was 15 to 20 hp more than the 172 ci engine that was originally in the tractor so some folks guessed that it might be a 192, but you would have to measure the bore and stroke to be sure.

You'll have to measure the bore and stroke once you have the head off. If it turns out to be a 172, just use parts and specs for a 801Ford tractor. About the only difference wassup that the industrial had a mechanical fuel pump while the tractor was gravity fed.

I'm curious why would it be an industrial engine if in a combine? Wouldn't it be an agricultural engine still, I always thought of industrial engines as being produced for gensets, pumps etc

AFAIK, any engines Ford sold as power units were considered industrials, regardless of their intended use. In the case of the Red Tigers, the ones in tractors had a gravity fed fuel system, while industrials had a mechanical fuel pump, which would be needed on a combine.

Interesting never knew that, the one in my father's naa was originally an industrial block we figured since it has a fuel pump opening and also runs high oil pressure which I'm told is because the industrial engines used a stronger relief valve
