After I found, "the other N tractor channel", I downloaded the info on the 35 to 55 hp Ford tractors and found what I wanted. Now I'm thinking that I might have a 3500, rather than a 3400. I;m going to try getting the serial number off it and try to figure that out. Thanks for you info, gregjo1948

I posted it as the other N tractor site because for some odd reason this site and that site don't get along and
will not let you post the site name. If your email was open I would have sent it.

I thought my email was open. How do I open it?

Don't confuse the serial number with the model number. The serial number won't tell you what model it is. The model number, which can be found near the serial number, will. A 3400 model number will start with 340 or C40, and a 3500 model number will start with 350 or C50. The serial number may start with a C, but it will have a 6 digit number after the C while the model number will have only 5 characters after the C and the last one will be a letter.

The main difference between a 3400 and 3500 is the front axle and steering setup. They both had fixed width front axles, but the 3400 still had radius rods and the double sided steering arms like the ag chassis 3000, while the 3500 had no radius rods and the single sided steering arm on the left like the 4000 series.

I don't use the modern view but on the classic view, in the tool bar up top, just punch in your email and check
the email box below. Also in the classic view you can see the box on my reply, lower right it sez send email,
yours sez no email.

I guess it is a 3400. It looks like 34028. The first 4 digits are clear but the last one is a bit rusted away.
Thanks for the info, gregjo1948
