Some "Spring" seat time

Hey All,

I got to spend a few hours on the 971 brush cutting some dry pasture to knock down the locust starts. I didn't entirely solve the "popping" wheel hub, but it is much better. One of the clamps doesn't lock the hub, even when tightened all the way down. I assume I can build it up by welding a bead and grinding?

This pasture was mowed last year, so I got to cruise along in 5th most of the time.

Good looking "one armed bandit". Looks like you got the
heavy duty weights . I got a set of those on a 1365 Oliver.
Great pic.

That's such a great old tractor Chris. I always like your photos of it.
We were kinda down your way this weekend. Went to Vermillion, SD to visit
my wife's mom. She's 92 and not doing well. Might be the last time I get to
see her.
Weather was great down there.
Bet there's a lot of folks itching to get out in the fields.
BTW, I never liked a loader on for jobs like that. I would use the quick
tatch feature of your bandit more.

Thanks guys,

Removing the loader would likely be a good idea, I just have a hard time making myself do it for a half-day of mowing. Later that night before I put her up, I used the bucket to push a large bush out of the yard my wife was tired of. I'm hoping to take a couple pieces of old bowling alley subfloor home for my wife today, probably 4' x 18' x 2" and will use the loader to get them off the trailer. I used it as a ladder two weeks ago, to get me up a tree for some trimming.

Yes Jerry, the anhydrous is going down and farmers will be planting shortly. Temps are suppose to be in the 60s-70s for the next two weeks. I got into my honey bees yesterday and two of the three hives already have good brood nest, so they are getting an early start as well :)

Chris

PS - Sorry to hear about your MIL, but if quality of life has been good/reasonable, I'd sign up for 92 right now.

Thanks.
She has had a good long life. Has children
who love her dearly.
She knows the score. Signed her own order to
not do any heroics to prolong things
unnecessarily. Her husband of almost 70
years passed on 16 months ago.
She's ready to join him again.
