It should have a dipstick at the back left that runs at a 45 degree angle down the side to ahead of the axle.

You can use the plug where the dipstick would go into the case, approx. six inches up, approx 16 inches ahead of the axle, as a level hole. It is fairly small, probably 1/4 pipe thread. Some one probably just painted the ROPS bar to make it look like a 9600, and they happened to know how to do a good job.
 
8's and 9's had a st elbow 8600's and 9600's had a dipstick. The st L's were added to increase oil level about a gallon.

Well my 9000 has a street elbow AND a dipstick.
