My father in law's Ford 3930 has started to smoke and the engine oil level increases after operating for about an hour. He bought it new and it has 530.0 hrs. Is there a simple fix?
Thanks,

What color is the smoke?

Does the engine oil smell like fuel, or does it smell like UTF?

Could be two different problems.

The smoke is light blue. He has changed the oil two times lately due to the level rising above the full mark. The oil doesn't smell like fuel.
Thanks,
Mark

Blue smoke generally indicates it is burning oil, in which case the crankcase should be losing oil, not gaining it. The power steering pumps are known to develop leaks in the seal at the front of the pump which results in the fluid from the power steering pump going into the crankcase, which will make the oil level rise. Two different symptoms, two different problems. Have you checked the power steering fluid level since you noticed the engine oil level rising?

Does it have a hydraulic pump mounted at the rear of the engine? If the internal seal fails, hydraulic fluid from the rear sump can cross over into the engine oil.
