Have a 3000 ford sos we bought in 1973 and has been a great little utility tractor that we keep hooked to auger wagon. The hydraulics are barely working in warm weather and not at all in cold weather . 3pt is very slow the outlets only if it decides . We are fairly competent with a good shop so where do we look.

The first thing I would do is bleed the pump.
Crack the allen head plug on the pump and with the engine at low idle, let it puke oil till there no bubbles.
How long has it been since the oil in the rear end was changed?
I would start with that if like many tractors it's been years and years.
Dump the oil and pour in about 3 gals of diesel fuel and run it for a while. Operate the lift a few times to flush the top cover.
Those do not have an external filter.
There is kind of a doohicky filter inside the rear end that can't be accessed without pulling the lift cover. What I do is remove the pump and fill the suction line with lacquer thinner. Then blow it out with compressed air. Do it a couple of times to clean it.
It could be the pump.
After flushing the rear end, refilling and bleeding the pump, put a gauge on one of your outlets and check pressure. It should read 2000+ psi.
Does the pump chatter at all?
Chattering often means the pump is shot.
They are easily rebuild able with a kit from this site.
