am wanting to add napa coolant filter to engine. ford/nh parts diagram has no pics regarding this. where is best place to plumb in ? got pics ? thanks

I wouldn't waste the time, easier and better to check the sca and add as needed every 6 months or so. Coolant filters don't filter at all, just dose sca to the coolant

Coolant filters came from factory starting with the later TWs. The actual filter was mounted behind the RH steps. Hoses went up to tees by the heater valve taps. Check a TW or 8030 series catalog for more details.

Absolutely, I have cut many open, they are just pellets to dose the sca to the coolant, usually a few baffles with holes but wouldn't filter anything smaller than about 1/8" diameter. The penray "need release" long life ones have 3 compartments of pellet material which are seperated by a foil layer that gets eaten away by the acidity change in the coolant

If installed correctly, they do work. I have one on my front end loader and truck. Have cut them open and they are packed with rust and dirt.

You must have some pretty rough insides on them engines, every time i have ever cut one open at work, usualy just to see that the pellets infact were used up, there rarely was more than a couple flakes of rust or dirt in the bottom, not so much "filtered" just more of a settling chamber area due to the large volume

thanks. see it on tw25 online parts diagram. prevents cavitation and acidification. i convert all my tractors regardless of make or model. cheap at only $ 14 / year for a filter.

Ok I didn't know that, all the ones I ever opened on our cat, Cummins and IH engines had simply pellets in a cage. If there is one that truly filters I would be interested for especially older engines.

I added one of these to my 02 Ford Taurus. Just mounted it on the fenderwell and plumbed the return line through it. Change the rusty filter near six month intervals. First time was a dca filter and just a plain filter after that. Taurus's have rust/electrolysis issues with the cooling system and that's why I installed it. Probably the only one in the country but it helps on mine.
