Couple of winter time pictures from today

People have asked me after I got done with the restoration of my 641, "are you actually gonna use that thing now?" Well the short answer is....Yes. Got a few pics today before I started plowing. Enjoy.

That is a calendar photo! That old house looks like it's got a story to tell. Surprised that the plaster keys are still holding on where they are exposed to the weather.

Thanks. I stopped by my friend's place down the road to talk and see if he needed plowed out. While talking to him, I thought to myself "that would make a great picture" and snapped a couple.

The actual farmhouse is the original to that piece of land. Has a lot of history. Short story is that the large part on the left is circa 1886, the right part is original that was pre-Civil War. There was a detached kitchen out back, but it burned. A new kitchen was built in 1936 further to the right, and is not pictured. Also, the story goes that during the Civil War, the Union guys were camping on the property. Supposedly, there was a lady that lived there about to have a baby, and the midwife threw a large tub of hot water out the window, unknowingly right onto some passing-by Union soldiers. They were mad as hornets and were fixing to burn the place, but the commanding officer learned of the situation and put a stop to it. That's the story that's told about the place. It's a really neat place I can tell you.

And in that picture, there are no chains on the tractor. I plowed around some at first without them, then went home and popped them on later. It went "OK" without the chains, but was darn near unstoppable with them. I'd highly recommend them for plowing if you can get some. Of course the pie weights aren't hurting traction, either.

Thanks,
Kevin
