1710 Block heater

I want to put a block heater on my Ford 1710, but I'm having a hard time finding one. The NH part # is E3NN8B152CA and is no longer available. I contacted my local dealer and he told he could not find one through his aftermarket dealers either. I find it hard to believe that this is a one of a kind part. Can anyone provide my with any good info on getting a freeze plug heater in this thing? Thanks in advance.

When I wanted to replace one on my tractor, I drained the antifreeze, took out the old one and measured it. Went to my local farm store and they had a shelf of different sizes. Picked out the one that matched and brought it home.

You may just have measure your freeze opening and find the correct size heater. This maybe a long shot but New Holland part#86590117 may work don't know for sure. You would have to get one and see if it will work.

I went to Ebay and searched for 'Kat's frost plug heater'. You'll come up with dozens. Just measure the size of the hole.
Follow the operating instructions though; Unplug the heater and let it sit for a minute or two before attempting to start (I
think it lets the element cool down so vibration won't damage it).

Thanks for the info fellas! I was hoping not to remove the freeze plug until I had the heater in hand, but I guess that's what I'm gonna have to do. Either way, a job for warmer weather. Thanks again.

If anyone is interested, I just purchased a block heater from Kat's. Part #11440 is the closest match I could find, it is 54mm where the plug for the block is 55mm. I intend to try it out soon after it comes in, of course I need to get a replacement plug just in case it doesn't work out. I will post results in case there are other 1710 owners who want to add a block heater.

If that 54mm plug heater doesn't work out for you in that 55mm hole, there is another plug on the other side of the engine that is 30mm, and it looks like there are aftermarket 30mm plug heaters out there.

Thanks Sean. The local dealer told me the kit was for the 55mm plug, I really didn't think any further about the other side of the block. I'll check it out.
