Ford 4000

Looking for advice. So I have a 72 4000. I had to buy a new steering shaft, steering wheel and nut. I put it on and used maybe ten hours then had to deploy. It was a hair loose the first time I put it on. I came home went to use and steering wheel just spins as if the shaft is too small. So I bought another steering wheel and nut. Same issue. I pulled my old shaft out and nut fits perfect. Threds are gone so can't check that portion. Seems like I was sent the wrong size shaft. It's 11/16 according to yesterday's. So I guess next option is to tack weld it? That's the smallest they have.

I wonder if you bought a steering wheel for a 1962-64 4 cylinder 4000 instead of a 1965-75 3 cylinder 4000.

Compare the new wheel to the old one,they might have sent the wrong part.

I made sure I said that Info to them when I ordered. They asked again today why it was for. I would assume they got it correct.

I was going to. However my wife got rid of it. But the old shafts threds are correct size. I truly think the new shaft they sent me was the wrong size. It seems like the whole top piece is slightly smaller.

Based upon my experience, I certainly would make no such assumption.

If you bought the steering wheel, shaft and nut all from here, and the steering wheel doesn't fit the shaft, tell them the part numbers they shipped you and ask them to check in their own warehouse whether those parts fit together properly.
