4610 re-use hydraulic fluid

I'm about to replace the brake discs on my 4610.

Is there any reason why I can't re-use the 12
gallons of hydraulic fluid in the rear end?

Thanks

If you're asking that question.... you clearly do not need to replace the brake discs... and if you do you better not reuse the oil.

sometimes when the brake disc go,, the fill the system with ground up contaminates.. especially green tractors. So... you might be better off flushing the housing and then put in clean fluid.

See the only way to learn is by doing, so that is what I'm gonna do.

Since I asked the question I have drained the fluid and it doesn't look so good so I guess it's out

Saw where Tractor Supply has hydraulic oil on sale for $19/5 gallons.
That is too cheap to reuse old oil.
I use the old oil in my squirt cans.

At $19 for 5 gallons my bet would be that is just hydraulic fluid and is not recommended for use in tractors like the 4610 where the hydraulics sump is also the lubrication for the rear axle plus has the wet brakes as well as the clutch pack for the independent PTO.

Sounds like at 19 dollars that it is 303 oil. I do not believe that 303 has the lubrication properties as mentioned before to lubricate the gears in the diff.

I'd be more worried about it not having the friction modifiers to correctly keep the brake discs happy... I'm after forgetting the specs... and I don't recall if 303 is a direct equivalent to 134D but I would definitely check before I dumped it in there....

I bought the Universal Tractor Hyd/Trans Oil on Traveller brand at Tractor supply for my 2600 for like $25/5 gal.

As for reusing oil - I would NEVER do this unless very special circumstances like you just completely flushed the system and know without any doubt the oil is good and clean. Like others have said, if you have brake discs in bad shape the oil is junk, do not use it in any equipment. It's way too cheap to risk any damage it could cause.
